My Winter Beauty Essentials

When it comes to winter I change up my skincare regime, just to get in that extra moisture to prevent dry skin and stop making it look dull & lifeless. I have put together my favourite/most used beauty products for winter which I either really enjoy using (lipstick) or other essentials that you must have !

Starting off with skincare, I like to apply a more hydrating & thick night cream, I’ve been trying out a few, some of which did not work with my skin. Then I used this Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask, and it left me with soft and moisturised skin in the morning with no break outs. This product is to be used overnight, applied like your night cream, no washing off & fuss free. There were a few days when I just used this every night, it really made my skin hydrated without breaking me out, I would recommend this to people with both dry & oily skin ! I have combination skin, other night creams had the tendency to make me break out on my T-zone which is a big NO & I thought this would be perfect for you all to try. You can get a smaller size, or get it in the Marvel Gift Set at Boots if you don’t want to splurge straight away !

As soon as winter comes my lips, start getting awfully dry, at the start I was just walking around coating my lips with thick layers of Vaseline and Baby Lips which always tend to work for me. But oh no, they were just not doing the job, I then purchased The Body Shop Aloe Vera lip treatment which I use overnight as it’s very thick, it moisturises my lips so I don’t have to wake up to dry lips, I then use my usual lip balm during the day. I don’t use this before applying lipstick as it is very thick, just overnight. This is like a lip saviour guys go get your hands on it!

The TBS Elderflower eye gel isn’t a must have, but it’s something I’ve been using a lot during the winter months. It’s more preventive than anything else, as I don’t have wrinkles or puffy eyes, it is quite soothing and it’s very moisturising. Sometimes during the winter your under eye area can get really dry, I would recommend this just to keep it hydrated overnight.

Since Autumn has passed and we have all extinguished the plum lip, including me, I’ve really been liking dark pink/red lipstick. I opt for the colours that are more mauve and still have a slight plum colour to them. These are not complete matte shades, as I like my lips hydrated during winter my current favourites are Mac Twig which has a satin finish, Maybelline Color Drama – Keep It Classy (review here) & Rhapsody in Red from F&F collection at Debenhams.

In terms of blush I have really been liking dusty pinks, rather than corals which I wore a lot in summer. Mac Peachtwist is a beautiful dusty pink with slight gold sparkle, I’ve been loving blushes that give me a bit of a glow rather than complete matte shades during winter. Another I would recommend is Nars-Deep Throat which is similar to the Mac, also one of my faves recently ! During winter I’ve been using champagne & pale pink highlighters, one of my favourites is Benefit High Beam, I also love using the highlighter from the Sleek Face Form – Medium.

When it comes to fragrances winter is when all the strong perfumes can be used (if that makes sense). I discovered that The Body Shop do Body Mists, I don’t know if they’re new but I’ve never seen them, there is a huge range corresponding to their existing fragrances that they use in their Body Butter etc. I’ve bought more than one of these, purely because they smell amazing and the longevity is really good. It’s comparable to my perfumes from brands such as YSL in terms of its longevity, this is Moringa it’s supposed to be a fresh & floral scent but I think it’s quite strong I also LOVE the White Musk, they’re amazing for slipping into your handbag, taking the place of your Victoria Secret & Gilly Hicks body mists super fast.

I shall be doing a post all about me soon, so you can all get to know me better, send me in your questions (here)
